Ever find yourself repeatedly typing the same things over and over on your computer?
Maybe you type the same blocks of text into your email messages thirty times a day.
Or maybe you find it hard to remember a long website address and never seem to get all the characters correct when you type it into your web browser’s address bar.
Not too long ago, I came to the startling realization that I spent over 45 minutes every single day just completing repetitive email tasks.
Bottom line: that amounts to over 273 hours a year doing the same things over and over again - talk about a waste of time!
Now multiply that times my in-house staff of 3 other people and you’re talking about 1092 hours wasted on email!
Much to my delight, I discovered a free PC software program anyone can use that instantly gave me back almost all of that wasted time!
With email, I found myself answering the same questions repeatedly.
I spent way too much time retyping or hunting down the answer so I could copy and paste it into my email reply.
On the surface, a task that takes only 30 seconds to complete might not seem like a time waster. But if you perform that task 100 times throughout the day you will chew up almost an hour on repetitive activity.
What if you could reduce that time by 90% or more?
What if you could claim that time back and use it for other, more important things?
Well now you can, because a free software program called "ShortKeys" helps you reclaim the time you waste on most repetitive typing tasks.
Log on to http://www.shortkeys.com/lite.htm and download the free version of the program, which offers all the features most of us will ever likely need or use.
"ShortKeys" is a macro utility, which means it performs repetitive tasks for you.
In this case, it allows you to set up replacement text or paragraphs for any given number of keystroke combinations you can define.
For example, I set mine up so whenever I type #7faq into an email message, the program automatically inserts six paragraphs with the most frequently asked questions I get from people surfing my www.7dayebook.com site.
The program quietly monitors your typing activity and, any time you type in a pre-defined keystroke combination, the program will automatically insert your replacement text.
You can use Short Keys with email, word processing, web browser, and even with your web page editor.
You simply choose a word and associate it with the replacement text. I like to begin the word with the # symbol since I rarely use it, especially as part of a word.
ShortKeys will then insert virtually anything you could type, including: simple sentences; extremely long web addresses; single paragraphs; even several paragraphs with up to 3,000 characters of text (and that’s a lot of text!).
Not only do you save time by not manually typing in the sentences or paragraphs, but you will greatly reduce the inevitable errors and typo’s all of us make.
I don’t normally get this excited about a free piece of software, but if you ever find yourself typing the same text over and over, get a copy of this program and start using it!

Hi Jim,
Hey, I always wondered how everyone else could answer all their e-mails and still have time to promote their websites, write articles, make videos and etc. LOL Really, it takes me all day just to open my e-mails. That is why I never get anything done. Some call it information overload, some say you are not focused, and others think you are just plain lazy. Anyway thanks for the link to a life saver. Enjoy your reports and news letter. Look forward to the next one.
John
Hey Jim
Thanks for a great little tip!
I think the lite version will do me just fine for now and I look forward to using it.
I don’t imagine it saves formatting, does it? Of course I always want more! LOL

Wow Jim,
Great Article and Software, just the other day I was complaining about having to constantly write my unsubscribe text in my email (that I sometimes forget to add) when I send out email to my subscribers.
Short Keys is the perfect solution to solve my problem, and cut down on repetitive tasks.

Thanks for the heads up about this great tool Jim. Ahem….actually I’ve been meaning to write. I bought your mini-site-creator as a total ‘know nothing’ newbie about 4 years ago. I am on about my 10th mini-site. Did over $xxx, xxx last year…but never did say ‘thankyou’ so…..Thankyou
hello, jim, great post!
personally i have to write a lot everyday doing translations and as a freelance writer, but i don“t type much, since i use dragon naturally speaking speech recognition software, which works very well for me, but of course there are many situations were macros could save lots of time, so i thank you very much for your tip!

because for this I make a format that always keep looking back and copy paste ago.
Thank you for the good of this. and my prayer is you, the more its sustenance. Amin
G’day Jim! Wow, what a life-saver you are! Thank you so much for sharing. I estimate that I can now save anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours each and every day (depending on what’s happening that day!). With all that extra spare time I can give my dog some more attention; he thanks you profusely!
Have an awesome day
I discovered this YEARS ago (probably around 2002 or so and have it listed on one of my sites along with other tools I recommend… but I’ve never run into anyone else using it. I could never live without it anymore, even use it to save URLs instead of using bookmarks. Jim, you said you like to begin your codes with the # sign… I use the same idea, but I use periods, commas, or any other characters that normally never begin a normal word, and I use different ones for different categories of shortkeys that I use. For instance, one character starts all my URL shortkeys, another all my email address shortkeys. I have even set up a system for user names and passwords for different sites I need to login to often. I use it for posting ads and even short emails (or paragraphs to insert) and subjects lines, and for different versions of my email signature lines depending on who I’m writing to (instead of using the email program sig lines, because using shortkeys is more flexible that way). Use it for anything typed repetitively, even if it’s for a short-term project… It’s great!
Hi Jim,
It takes a lot to get me excited, but this software sounds great. I aready have several areas in my business where it will be usefull.
Thank You!
